Still working on a better name though.
New leather seats with seat heater (pads) - check.
Stereo that doesn’t sound anemic - check.
I ended up wiring it battery hot and used the trigger wire from the stereo for auto on/off. I tested the current for standby and it’s less than a milliamp so I’m not worried about the parasitic drain. The stereo harness was already wired to send the signal to the rear amp (the factory crappy amp) and all I had to do was splice in the new trigger wire in the back and done.
How’s it look? Great. Can’t tell its there at all.
How’s it sound? Okay.
It has more than enough power, but the location, the mount...something isn’t ideal acoustically such that certain frequencies aren’t solid. Some hits are hard and some are weak. It’s not the fault of the sub, if I’m right next to it it’s accurate in the frequency range, it’s just the way the sound bounces around in the space . Example: I know there is bass, and if I dip my head down I hear it, but if I sit up it goes away somewhat .
D on’t get me wrong, it’s 100x better and I am glad to have done it. I think I am spoiled with the Mark Levinson system in the GX which although it doesn’t have as much power, is so clear in the entire range.
It will put out way more bass than you would think though, I have the gain set midway at the amp and midway at the head unit, and it still more than enough for me. I will keep it turned pretty low most of the time just to round out the sound.
Now I am just waiting on my Japanese factory seat heater switches for my seat heaters (order in August...) and I’ll be 3 for 3. Though I still want to swap out all the interior dome lights with LED.

From here, it looks like the speaker isn’t lined up with the speaker cover on the panel. That would certainly be a contributing factor.

Cerwin Vega n. Man, havent thought about them since college. I would suggest looking for a thirty year old Bazooka tube, as those were pretty mad back then.

They were the biggest, highest rated sub in this class. I've been impressed so far... But yeah I forgot about them too

That’s a slick install and a great use of wasted space. I bet your sound quality would improve if you lined that cavity with a couple sheets of sound deadening material. I’ve done that with several cars and it will make a stock stereo sound significantly better.

I was thinking about that. I might stuff some foam fill in there down the road. We’ll see.
